When you see weathermen in North Texas on television in their shirtsleeves, then something is usually wrong. That was the case on April 3 when powerful thunderstorms hit several cities in the region. Denton, Aubrey, Frisco, McKinney and Farmersville were just some of the areas that were the hardest hit. Torrential rain and hail the size of baseballs hit many areas, and there were even reports of tornadoes as well. It looks like hundreds – if not thousands – of people will need new roofs on their homes due to hail damage.
It Could Have Been Even Worse
Even though the area was hit extremely hard, the damage could have been much, much more severe. Thankfully, according to this article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, no injuries had been reported. There were, however, some areas where officials said it was too early to determine how many people had been hurt – if any.
The Importance of Checking for Roof Damage Due to Hail
One of the most frustrating aspects of having a hailstorm hit your home is that the hail damage may not be obvious. Your home may have been under siege by hailstones and you simply assume you’ll see huge holes all across your roof. In many instances, however, the damage may be subtle at best; if you take a quick look and don’t see anything, you may not think anything is wrong. But it’s critically important that you have an expert inspect your roof if your home has been hit by a hailstorm. If you don’t, the next time it rains heavily you could be at risk of sustaining serious water damage.
