EPDM is a synthetic rubber used in roofing systems since the early 1970s. EPDM systems can be fully adhered, mechanically attached, or ballasted. EPDM rubber is a lightweight, resilient, strong material that is resistant to UV rays and ponding water. EPDM also has superior elongation properties that make it well suited to temperature extremes in which the material expands or contracts greatly. Firestone RubberGard Platinum Roofing Systems deliver a 30-year warranty covering incidental punctures, high winds and hail up to two inches in diameter. RubberGard Platinum EPDM combines the strength of 90-mil RubberGard EPDM with Firestone HailGard composite insulation for outstanding thermal performance and puncture resistance.

Utilizing the same characteristics and benefits of Firestone’s established line of RubberGard EPDM membranes, RubberGard EcoWhite EPDM membrane offers a highly reflective EPDM solution to coated membranes and thermoplastics. The environmentally friendly white membrane provides building owners with the proven performance of traditional EPDM, while offering the ease of installation roofing contractors need. 

Available in a .060” (1.52mm) thickness, RubberGard EcoWhite EPDM membrane is a bi-laminate, white-on-black cured membrane that can be used in conjunction with the comprehensive EcoWhite line of accessories for rapid, consistent and cost-effective fully adhered installations.  It is available for UL- and FM-rated systems, exceeds ASTM D 4637 standards, and is eligible for a 15-year Firestone Red Shield Warranty.

RubberGard EcoWhite membrane’s initial solar reflectance is 0.80, when tested in accordance with the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) program.  Also, based on recent CRRC testing, EcoWhite has a solar reflectance index (SRI) of 99, making it one of the industry’s most reflective white membranes.  Plus, EcoWhite EPDM can help achieve points in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, a voluntary national standard established by the U.S. Green Building Council.

 

 

The UltraBlend Roofing System combines the strengths of UltraPly TPO and RubberGard EPDM in a comprehensive, warrantable roofing solution. Using UltraPly TPO for horizontal roof surfaces and either RubberGard EPDM or RubberGard EcoWhite EPDM for vertical surfaces such as parapet walls, the UltraBlend system can help contractors save time and reduce labor costs, while giving building owners the confidence that their roof is covered by durable roofing materials that have withstood the test of time. In addition, Firestone’s full line of EcoWhite QuickSeam accessories – including flashings, pipe boots, penetration pockets, and patches – can add to the ease and speed of installation.
